I recently received an enquiry from an organisation centred in the US, who have a ‘local’ European office. They use Microsoft Dynamics GP in the US, and wanted to put the EU office on the same system for obvious reasons. The EU office manages their EMEA markets, so localisation was top of the agenda. Took me a while to resolve this one. Probably very straight forward for those in the know, but while my front end skills with BP are good, when it comes to the technical back end I probably have a bit to learn!!…anyway, this came about due to a new company being created in an existing GP/BP install. Everything was fine untill the user tried to use the company with Business Portal (to create purchase requisitions). Up front, the install is BP 2.5 with MSSQL 2005 – which is not supported – and first off I had to change compatibility levels…

Basically Sales Tax reporting. Within the EU, VAT registered traders exporting to other VAT registered traders, charge Zero Rated VAT (SalesTax)…but they must report all such activity to their home country tax authorities.
