Hope this information is of help to Microsoft Dynamics Partners who are competing against Epicor, I am facing some really tough competition from them at this time so I can share my thoughts.
Their Sales team is really very strong, I would commend the way they work on it. Epicor puts in a lot of time and effort into their sales process and demo preparation, they get their best guys to work their magic and setup a demo for the prospects.
Epicor normally makes a comment to the prospect about being "More Microsoft than Microsoft" and claiming that the application is built on Microsoft Platform and works on Microsoft SQL Server this being true to a certain degree I'd say investigate if this is really true or there is something under the covers.
They always try to get as much face time as possible with the prospect, this gives them the edge I would say and it makes a difference. Epicor will always demand more face time and their sales team is really aggressive which can work in your favour if the prospect does not like pushy sales people.
